Where To Stay? Villa Magna

They call Madrid the fashion capital for a reason. Now imagine living in the heart of it. Villa Magna is located in the lap of luxury at Paseo de la Castellana. In fact it’s got the fashion district in its backyard.

Located amid major high-end boutiques and art galleries, the hotel is known to attract the A-list fashionable crowd.

The newly renovated hotel was originally the Palace of Anglada. In 2007, the Villa Magna closed its doors in order to undergo an extensive renovation. Its reopening was a cause for celebration. With Empire chairs, Bauhaus concepts and Chinese screens combined to construct a luxurious atmosphere, the hotel walls were adorned with Bauhaus and Vienna Secession designs as part of the renovation. Painted glass windows that reflect the sun’s rays are set up against the staircase among other extravagant furnishings that include Louis XVI rosewood consoles and exotic screens. A large window was carved out for a marvelous view of the Magnum Patio. The hotel opened a wellness club, fine dining restaurants and a 24-hour concierge service that is willing to go all the way to make your stay memorable. The art of hospitality helps create memorable experiences you want to come back to.

Starting at SR 3,000 for two nights, the Grand Prestige Room is a comfortable space for two. The 50 square meter room comes with a dream mirror TV, large marble bathroom with a bathtub and separate rain shower, including in-room entertainment and dining services available 24/7. Families travelling with children will find several convenient services such as baby monitors, child-size bathrobes, bottle sterilizers and many other options available in their room upon request.

Don’t forget to check out their latest winter offers for families and explorers who want to discover secrets of the surreal art and culture.

What To Do? Villa Magna’s

Guide To Madrid

Paseo de la Castellana

The Villa Magna is located on this six-kilometer-long avenue along with elegant palaces and skyscrapers. Thriving with economic and commercial activity, it is the axis that divides the city in two, from north to south. At the most northerly point is the Torre Bankia, designed by Norman Foster, which, with a height of 250 meters, makes it the tallest building in Spain and the fifth tallest in Europe.

Paseo del Prado

Paseo de la Castellana meets Paseo del Prado where you can find three major art museums: El Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía. It is also replete with splendid cafés, beautiful buildings such as the Palacio de Linares, home to the Casa de America, and emblematic squares of Cibeles and Neptuno. If you are looking to escape from the hustle and bustle, head for the luscious greenery of the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The Retiro Park

It is hard not to be marvelled by the beauty of this magnificent park, with its romantic spots such as the Rosaleda, the Parterre and the Crystal Palace, a resplendent space that organises interesting temporary exhibitions. The park is open every day of the year. Each season has its own distinctive charm; in spring it bursts into bloom; in summer it offers a respite from the heat; in autumn it brings a flourish of colour and in winter enjoy freshly baked chestnuts. It is also the perfect place for practicing sport.

Madrid de los Austrias

Madrid was born as the capital of Spain from the labyrinth of narrow pedestrian streets where historic landmarks such as the Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real stand out. The Plaza Mayor is still as vibrant as ever, especially under the arcades, while the Palacio Real is well worth a visit to see its diverse collections. During the summer, the nearby Sabatini Gardens become the setting for flamenco, zarzuela and classical music performances. From there you can marvel at the city’s spectacular sunsets, a true local phenomenon thanks to Madrid’s clear skies. The terraces encircling the Plaza de Oriente are the best places to see them from.

Las Letras Neighbourhood

A profound facelift has made this already charming neighborhood even more attractive. It owes its name to the fact that some of the most important writers of Spanish literature were born here. At the heart of the neighborhood is the ever pulsating Plaza Santa Ana, from where a labyrinth of quiet streets lead off, inviting you to explore them and their antique shops and art galleries at your leisure.

Gran Vía / Puerta del Sol

Madrid’s busiest street is the Gran Vía, where cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues converge in the shadow of the showcase buildings of the twentieth century. A pedestrian street, Preciados, links it with the Puerta del Sol, the heart of Madrid and the Kilometre Zero of the entire country. Here is where Calle de Alcalá starts, a symbol of the splendour of a bygone era; the Carrera de San Jerónimo, home of the Congreso, the Spanish Parliament, and the streets of Calle Mayor and Calle Arenal that lead, respectively, to the Plaza Mayor and the Teatro de la Ópera.

Las Ventas Bullring

Considered by bullfighters and experts to be the greatest bullring in the world, it is the second largest in diameter, only surpassed by the Plaza de Ronda, and the third largest in terms of capacity, after the bullrings of Mexico City and Valencia, in Venezuela. In May the Feria de San Isidro takes place when the very best of the season converge.
