4 cooking competitions in Jeddah Food Festival

THE Second Jeddah Food Festival began Wednesday under the aegis of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the General Entertainment Authority and is set to last till Jan. 20, during the school break, at King Abdul Aziz Road.

This year the festival includes a cooking competing for the public. Cheif Nsreen Brahoom, one of the three chiefs who will be doing live cooking, noted that they will have four different competitions. The first is for the best dish cooked at home, one for kids, one for experts and one for those just cooking as a hobby. Each day they we will giving three medals and the kids will also get gifts, she added.

The food displayed ranges from local homemade food to Mediterranean cuisines, Asian cuisines, international food healthy food options and fast food. Some have a restaurant-like display while others serve over the counter and a third group served from their food trucks.

The festival, Mazin Batarji, deputy chairman of the JCCI, said that the event is stretched over an area of 30,000 square meters and this year it includes participation from productive families.

Adil Maki, the head of catering committee at JCCI, said they hoped to be a leading event in Makkah region and is looking forward to enhance the catering industry in the Kingdom by attracting local and international brands.

"We also want to enhance awareness of food quality and it's, we provide our support to entrepreneurs and highlight their businesses and we have different activities suitable for all family members, “ he said.
