Things to do in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam Light Festival runs until 21 January 2018. The artworks illuminate the center of Amsterdam for 53 consecutive days. Visit the water exhibition by booking a Water Colors cruise or admire our new land exhibition at the Marineterrein Amsterdam. All light art installations of Amsterdam Light Festival were exclusively made for the festival. From an artwork in the masts of the VOC ship 'de Amsterdam' to the works that are harnessed above the Herengracht - they were all created for a specific location. 35 artworks are on display across the city, one of which is 'thinline' by the world famous Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei.

Rijksmuseum

The art museum has some of the finest European masterpieces including Dutch Golden Age paintings and a vast European art collection. It is located in the 19th century district of Oud-Zuid, which is an art lover’s utopia.

Anne Frank House

You guessed it. This is the house where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis in a secret annex, during WWII.

Van Gogh Museum

This museum hosts the world's largest collection of Van Gogh paintings, alongside drawings and letters.

Efteling

A great place to spend the day with the family and kids, Efteling is a theme park with fairytale-themed rides, wooden roller coasters and live shows. Street food- namely churros and hot waffles are a must-try especially in winter.

Get the I amsterdam City Card – which covers most of the attractions and experiences and gets you free entry to most museums and attractions, plus free public transport for the duration of your stay. Cycling in Amsterdam is the way of life with over 800,000 bicycles in the city, so hop on one and zip through city lanes to discover a new side. A short ferry trip will take you to a number of drop-off points where you can enjoy a host of hip waterside hangouts, festivals and events. Or simply get a romantic canal cruise to discover Amsterdam’s UNESCO protected canal belt for beautiful moments and ‘instagramable’ pictures.
