SPTC honors champs and winners

Saldana and Dilla bag Best Doubles award

— In a fitting ceremony held at the Reem Riviera Beach Resort here, the Samahang Pinoy Tennnis Club (SPTC) honored the champions and other winners of the recently concluded SPTC Tennis Jamboree.

Rolly Saldana and Romeo Dilla, under Category B2/B2 of Team C, came out the unanimous winners of the distinct Best Doubles award, having been undefeated in all of their matches besting all other aspirants to the award covering all categories.

Waymor Carmelotes, the designated captain of Team C, received the coveted team championship plaque, and each of the following team members received individual champion’s plate: Norwin Catipay/Celso Abella (Category B1/B2+), Rolly Saldana/Romeo Dilla (Category B2+/B2), Ruben Alzate/Rik Maulion (Category B2/C), Benhashim Salabin/Clark Maldo (Category C/C), Rolly Bautista/Gary Bautro (Category Legend).

Team B received the team runner-up plaque and individual members’ plates. Team D and Team A received the semifinalist plaques with their team members also each receiving individual award plates.

Coralyn Sapon acted the toastmaster of the program and the awarding activities, while Ofelia Jamito headed the club’s Women Auxiliary Group, who assisted in organizing and scheduling of the awarding event’s activities. Special prizes were given away to lucky winners whose names were drawn from lot.

The officers of the SPTC, who planned and managed the tournament, are the following: Ariel Domingo (chairman), Roy Timtiman (vice chairman for internal affairs), Mario Betorio (vice chairman for external affairs), Jun Tomas (vice chairman for membership development), Leo Milarion (secretary), JM Bravo (treasurer), Fernan Fermin (auditor), Mashur Jamiri (press relation director), Mark Banaag (business manager), Waymor Carmelotes (tournament director). The following officiated as technical committee arbiters during SPTC tournaments and games: Roman Alcantara (deputy director), Nasser Cayquep (deputy director), and committee members — Zaldy Gabriel, Eman Usman, Yusuf Adriatico, Allan Mabini, Rolly Saldana, Nilo Gamba and Vic Rebong.

Honorary officers: Pol Fernandez, Gary Bautro, Marlon Pagsanjan, Ali Callanta, Cesar Pabico, Rading Bautista and Corly Obtinalla.

This tournament was supported by TFC, a TV channel named True Filipino Channel that gave away sport T-shirts for the tournament players, club members, as well as the guests and visitors.
