Ed sheeran tops spotify’s 2017 most-streamed list

The streaming service announced Tuesday that Sheeran tops its 2017 list with 6.3 billion streams. He also has Spotify’s biggest album of the year with Divide, streamed 3.1 billion times, and the top song with “Shape of You,” logging 1.4 billion streams.

Sheeran received two Grammy nominations last week, but was shut out of the major categories, including album, song and record of the year.

Meryl streep says the post’s portrayal of workplace sexism is still relevant today

The Post is ultimately a story about how Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep) overcame self-doubt and the sexism she endured as publisher of one of the country’s top newspapers. “For me, this was her coming-of-age story,” writer Liz Hannah said. “There’s something very relatable to a woman finding her voice.” Streep, who relied on Gra interviews with her children to prepare for the role, lamented just how little things seemed to have changed in nearly 50 years since Graham became the first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. “I try to tell young women who weren’t alive then how different it was very recently and it still is in those leadership circles,” Streep said. “We’ve filled up the bottom of the pyramid, but where it all gets decided, we don’t have parity. We’re not even close. ... It’s relevant to today.” The film features an ensemble cast that includes Tom Hanksas the legendary Post editor Ben Bradlee, who worked closely with Graham to bring his newspaper to national prominence. Hanks said he was fortunate to have met Bradlee before he died in 2014 and was struck by how the editor could command a room and the passion he brought to newspapering “The Post” also stars Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, Bruce Greenwood, Matthew Rhys, Alison Brie, and Carrie Coon. Josh Singer (“Spotlight”) co-wrote the script, in addition to executive producing the film. Distributed by Fox, the film opens wide on January 12.

Tiger zinda hai scores big with atif aslam’s love ballad

Composed by Vishal and Shekhar and sung by the powerhouse Atif Aslam, the song’s lyrics have been penned by poet and lyricist Irshad Kamil. The song was released on Big Boss 11, hosted by Salman Khan with Katrina Kaif as a surprise guest and as you can guess, the song went on to be an instant hit with almost 17 million views in just two days. Tiger Zinda Hai is set to release on December 22.

Shashi kapoor’s state funeral: amitabh bachchan, shah rukh khan, bollywood stars attend

Actor Shashi Kapoor’s last rites took place on a Tuesday, as Mumbai was lashed by Cyclone Ockhi. Wrapped in the tricolour, the late star was cremated with state honours at the Santa Cruz crematorium, with a three-gun salute by Mumbai Police. His body was taken to Prithvi Theatre first. The hearse was accompanied by several family members, sheltering from the torrential rain under umbrellas - Shashi Kapoor’s son Kunal, nephews Randhir and Rishi, who rushed back to Mumbai from a film shoot, his son Ranbir and several other Kapoors were pictured. Many of Shashi Kapoor’s colleagues from the film industry were photographed at the crematorium, among them Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek and Shah Rukh Khan. Celebrities like Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah were pictured at the Kapoor residence before the funeral.

Disney is taking its movies out of netflix

It’s launching it’s own streaming service in 2019 and launching an ESPN streaming service early next year. Pixar and Disneymovies are expected to appear exclusively, including shows and movies made specifically for the new service. No word on Marvel and Star Wars movies. ESPN is getting it’s streaming service after loosing subscribers for many years. Disney Chief Robert Iger calls this “a strategic shift in the way we distribute our content.” Disney is now buying a majority of BAMTech, a streaming technology company owned by the internet company owned by Major League Baseball. After the surprising announcement, Netflix shares quickly dropped 4%. The announcement was made during announcing quarterly earnings. This new service could see the upcoming Frozen 2 (2019) available for streaming exclusively on Disney’s new service. Star Wars: Episode IX is also set for release in 2019.

Will smith to host nat geo event series ‘one strange rock’

The 10-episode series is titled “One Strange Rock.” It will tell story of Earth and why it is special and uniquely brimming with life among a largely unknown but harsh cosmic arena. “By pairing the incomparable, out-of-this-world, global appeal of Will Smith with our rock-star astronauts, who literally went out of this world, we tell the incredible story of the complexities of our planet,” said Pastore, president of original programming and production for National Geographic. “With the distinctive storytelling from Aronofsky and Root, ‘One Strange Rock’ will be an incredible visual treat, taking audiences from the microscopic to the cosmic, leaving viewers to see and appreciate our planet as never before.”
