Civil Defense teams on full alert at Muzdalifah

MUZDALIFAH — Fifteen Civil Defense teams supported with rescue teams have been dispatched to Muzdalifah to ensure maximum protection and safety of pilgrims, according to Maj. Gen. Rafeh Al-Shammary, Civil Defense.

Bus stops, fall accidents, train stations can pose potential risks to the safety of pilgrims. The teams are highly trained to respond to any emergency case and are equipped with high-tech devices to ensure the smooth implementation of the Civil Defense plans for the movement of pilgrims to Muzdalifah starting from Maghreb prayer and until midnight.

All facilities at Muzdalifah have been inspected and examined while the support teams have been dispatched to areas that are expected to get crowded when the pilgrims arrive there. There are also preventive teams together with rescue, paramedic, firefighting teams.

“We are constantly coordinating with all government agencies to ensure that roads are safe and officers and machinery can be transported without a glitch and can be anywhere in Arafat should there be an emergency case,” he said, adding that there are over 400 hydrants in Muzdalifah and a large number of firefighters on motorcycles. There are 15 firefighting and rescue machineries, which are fully equipped with advanced firefighting devices. There are 30 water tankers and nine moveable lighting towers in case a fire breaks out in the evening. The towers can produce light covering an area of 5,000 square meters. There are also six ambulances and over 200 motorcycles as well as divers. Each Civil Defense station at Muzdaliah has six fully-equipped boats which can be used in floods.

Emergency plans have been designed to use substitute roads if there is any emergency.
