Civic body establishes seven support centers in Makkah

MAKKAH — The Makkah municipality has established seven support centers in various parts of the holy city to extend immediate intervention during emergencies and to help in the execution of civic works in the Holy Sites.

The centers have ben provided with sufficient equipment, tools and workers to be ready 24 hours a day during the entire Haj season.

The municipality was keen to establish the centers near the municipal service locations and has dispatched more than 2,000 workers supplying each center with about 300 workers.

The tools and equipment consists of cars, trucks, forklifts, shovels and others which are ready to intervene any time to help the Civil Defense and other concerned bodies in dealing with emergency situations.

The centers will extend support to the municipal and civic service facilities and the slaughterhouses in Muaisem.

According to informed sources, the centers are ready and prepared to extend immediate help during emergency situations resulting from rains, floods, fires, building collapses and other calamities which may lead to the dispersing of pilgrims or closure of streets.

The municipality has placed four of its staff at the command and control center of the public security and the same number of employees at the operations room of the Civil Defense to receive complaints and coordinate with the other concerned government and private bodies to deal promptly with any hazards that may occur during the Haj.

The sources said these employees will be present in their locations 24/7 until the Haj season is over.
