Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuh

TODAY, 17 August 2017 marks the 72nd year of Indonesia’s Independence Day. To celebrate the anniversary, each year we come up with a theme that embodies not only elements of the past but also the hopes of tomorrow. And this year’s theme is “Indonesia Kerja Bersama” or loosely translated as “Indonesia Working Together”.

For Indonesians living in home and abroad, the theme serves as a reminder on the fundamental value of working together to build a better Indonesia. On international level, the theme underlines Indonesia’s posture to work together with other nations to achieve mutual objectives and benefits.

To my fellow Indonesian expatriates residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I would like to thank you for all the support and cooperation that you have provided to Indonesia. Although we are far apart from our homeland, I believe that Indonesia will always be profoundly engraved within our hearts and that we will continue to deliver the very best to our Indonesia.

With regard to Indonesia-Saudi bilateral relations, I wish to convey my sincere appreciation to the peoples and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in particular Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for its cooperation, protection and assistance to all Indonesian expatriates residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including those performing Haj and Umrah, carrying out official duties as diplomats and living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The mega-historic visit of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Indonesia last March has forged a new level of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. There are so many untapped opportunities that await to be explored. Indonesia stands ready to work together with Saudi Arabia on all fronts and sectors to attain common objectives.

In closing, I pray to Allah SWT for His never ending mercy and blessing to Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. I also pray that the brotherly relations will continue to flourish and serve not only to the two country and its peoples but to the Ummah and the world as well.

Ameen.

Wa’alaikumsalam Warahmatullah Wabarokatuh
