It is a great honor for me to extend my great pleasure and warm joyful greeting to all Indonesian country fellows especially of whom residing in the western provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the festive occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on Aug. 17, 2017.

Independence for Indonesian people means a commitment to building a nation that is more prosperous, democratic and just, in which development benefits all, the rights of every citizen are honored and protected, under the spirit and principles of Gotong royong, working voluntarily together for the benefits of all Indonesian people.

Independence should not be meant limitedly only by the state of enjoying freely the rights but also by responsibly exercising the obligation for the betterment of our life. Being independent means that we can protect and maintain our common sense and humanity. Being independent means that we can build and embrace a mutually beneficial relationship. Being independent means, we can nurture a healthy and productive community and neighborhood.

Therefore, on this auspicious occasion, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for all contributions of preserving a long-established relation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Indonesia.

The historical visit of King Salman to Indonesia in March 2017 has brought our bilateral relations to highest plane. The visit brings a new dawn and horizon for the people to people connection between our two brotherly countries. Our two nations have many things in common to be further developed.

The stronger relations between Indonesia-Saudi Arabia is partly reflected in bringing the Indonesian Haj quota by Saudi government back to normal with an addition of 10,000. We are thankful to King Salman in this regard.

We are hoping to see the friendship and cooperation that have long been cemented for decades between the two countries grow even stronger. Therefore, I would once again like to reiterate that we stand ready to keep closely working together for the benefits of our two countries.

Wassalamualaikum Warahatullahi Wabarakatuh..
