JEDDAH — ‘The Bright Side’ is a summer campaign for girls aged between 12 to 15 that focuses on positivity, dealing with changes and pressures, learning how to create small businesses, and learning guidelines of creative writing.

The campaign, which is launched by Guidelines Center in Jeddah, started on Aug, 12 and will continue for 10 days.

Speaking to Saudi Gazette, the family counselor and the person responsible for the campaign, Nisreen Bukhary explained that youth should always concentrate and keep looking at the bright side.

“The campaign is for this group because we found that most of the activities and the summer campaigns in Jeddah are for teenagers and for those above 15 years old.”

She added that girls in the age of 12 to 15 live through a critical time since these years are transformable stage for them.

“They leave their childhood world to be part of the teenager world. So, being positive and teaching them how to deal with difficulties and other struggles the right ways will help them in their adulthood and future. The goal of the campaign is to make these girls look at the bright side of their lives.”

In the campaign, the participants will learn that negative thoughts would appear and one of the vital lessons in the campaign would be how to deal with negative thinking and realize that it is something normal in the transformation stage of the girls’ lives. Accepting herself, her body, face, color, and beauty is another lesson that the girls will learn during the campaign, according to Bukhary.

“The participants will have a chance to know the right techniques for breathing while facing issues and problems and during crucial periods. Feeling happiness during pressurized periods is another topic being tackled during the campaign. Yoga and its benefits would be part of the campaign, also. Several speakers will talk on different topics and during workshops, including Ibrahim Ayoub, who will be talking about honoring and obeying the parents and writer, Hiba Gadi, who will talk about creative writing and how to develop and create your own business. I will talk about happiness and karma,” she added.
