King appoints new public prosecutor, security director, GACA president

Makkah — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman issued on Saturday a number of royal orders renaming the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) as the Public Prosecution and its chairman as the Public Prosecutor, appointing a new public prosecutor, a new director of public security, a new GACA president and a new governor of the General Authority Zakat and Tax.

The renamed Public Prosecution will function directly under the King. It will enjoy full independence, and no one will interfere in its work, according to a royal decree.

The Bureau of Experts of the Cabinet in conjunction with relevant authorities will review the regulations of the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution, the code of criminal procedures, other regulations and relevant royal orders, propose amendments in accordance with this order and submit the outcome within 90 days to complete the necessary legal procedures.

BIP president Sheikh Mohammed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah Al-Areeni was relieved of his post and Sheikh Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Mubarak Al-Mu’jeb was appointed as Public Prosecutor at the rank of minister.

Gen. Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Labdeh was made adviser to the Royal Court at the rank of General.

The services of Lt. Gen. Othman Bin Nasser Al-Mahraj, the Director of Public Security, were terminated and Maj. Gen. Saud Bin Abdulaziz Hilal was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as Director of Public Security.

Abdulhakim Bin Mohammed Bin Sulaiman Al-Tamimi was appointed as President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) at the rank of minister.

Suhail Bin Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Abanmi was appointed the Governor of General Authority of Zakat and Tax at the excellent rank.

Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Bin Ibrahim Al-Hamed was named the Director of Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University at the excellent rank.

Other appointees at ministerial rank include Aqla Bin Ali Al-Aqla as deputy chief of the Royal Court, Dr. Fahd Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Latif Al-Mubarak as adviser at the Royal Court, Musaed Bin Nasser Al-Barrak as adviser at the Royal Court, Turki Bin Abdulmohsen Al-Asheikh as adviser at the Royal Court, Tamim Bin Abdulaziz Al-Salem as assistant special secretary to the King. Dr. Hamad Bin Mohammed Bin Hamad Al- Asheikh was named adviser at the Royal Court at the excellent rank.
