3M, a global science-based company that inspires creative collaboration, is celebrating its 50th anniversary of introducing its patented Window Film and chose Saudi Arabia to celebrate this momentous occasion in the Middle East as the kingdom is primed to become the new automotive hub in the region.

According to a recent report by Frost & Sullivan, Saudi Arabia will hold the lion’s share of cars on GCC roads, with 10.03 million vehicles by 2020 – a figure comprising 52.5% of the entire regional market.

Tareq Al Nouri, General Manager, Electronics & Energy, 3M, said: “Saudi Arabia is on course to establish itself as the new automotive hub for the Middle East region. Currently the largest importer of vehicles and auto parts in the region, the Kingdom accounts for approximately 770,000 auto sales a year, which is why we selected it as the country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Window Films.”

3M has spent the past five decades innovating and improving the Window Film. The Crystalline Series features a proprietary, multilayer optical film that combines over 200 layers of Nano-Technology in a film that is thinner than a Post-it® note. It can block heat-producing infrared rays as well as block up to 99% of harmful UV rays to help protect individuals and interior into the car.

In order to celebrate this remarkable milestone, 3M ran a special promotional campaign at 3M Authorized Auto Care Centers around the Kingdom, where the participants had the chance to celebrate 3M’s 50th Window Films Anniversary and win prizes which included trips to Dubai and smart phones.

Winners of 3M’s 50th Window Films Anniversary competition included Abdul Basit who won the round trip ticket to Dubai Bumper Prize, Bander Al Shady who won the LED TV, and Dany Abu Khamis who won the iPhone 6S.

3M has been present in Saudi Arabia since 1980, and provides technical support through a Technical and Scientific Office, and operates Customer Technical Centers and a Learning Center in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. — SG
