JEDDAH — Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani has invited members of the OIC Executive Committee at the foreign ministers’ level for an emergency meeting to discuss the ballistic missile attack by Houthis targeting Makkah.
The meeting will be held at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.
The OIC Executive Committee consists of the Islamic Summit Troika — Egypt, Senegal and Turkey, as well as the Council of Foreign Ministers Troika — Saudi Arabia, Guinea and Kuwait, in addition to the OIC Secretary General.
Earlier, Madani strongly condemned the missile attack.
“It is an attack on all Muslims around the world,” he said in a statement.
Madani considered the missile attack as foolishness and a complete disregard and disrespect for the feelings of Muslims and their sanctities.
“This attack is a hopeless attempt to disrupt safety and security in the holy lands and to foil all efforts for ending the conflict in Yemen through peaceful means, especially after the UN Special Envoy has presented new ideas for resolving the crisis.”
The OIC chief also stressed the full solidarity of the 56-member body with Saudi Arabia in all the steps and procedures it takes to preserve its safety and stability.
The International Organization of Muslim Scholars (IOMS) has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to invite all its members to collectively stand against Houthis and their supporters.
