TAIF — The family of the man who decapitated his parents are blaming Shihar Mental Hospital for the horrific incident.

Abdullah Al-Shihry, the murderer’s uncle, said his nephew was a patient at Shihar Mental Health Hospital.

“The hospital released my nephew before his treatment was completed. They were well aware that he was mentally unstable and they released him. My nephew was not on drugs when he committed the horrific crime. He used to be a public sector employee. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with a mental illness. He was fired from his job as a result,” said Al-Shihry.

He said the entire family witnessed the aftermath of the gruesome murder.
“We saw a pool of blood around the scattered body parts of my sister and her husband. My nephew was standing there covered in blood. We asked what happened and he said he beat up his own parents before stabbing them with a knife and decapitating them,” said Al-Shihry.

“My nephew couldn’t say a word. He was silent the entire time he was being questioned by the police. The police took him to Shihar Mental Health Hospital again. Even under the supervision of doctors, my nephew still isn’t talking,” said Al-Shihry.
